R RIVERSIDE RESORT BRINGS BACK SMOKE ON THE WATER BBQ & MUSIC FESTIVAL
LAUGHLIN, NEV. – Grilling and barbecuing are among America’s leading culinary pastimes, and Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort is raising the stakes by hosting the second annual Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned Smoke on the Water BBQ & Music Festival in Laughlin, Nevada, May 3 & 4, 2013. When the flames begin, barbecue enthusiasts, outdoor recreation admirers, music fans, and championship barbecue teams will descend upon the Riverside Resort for an experience at one of Laughlin’s grandest venues, and what has become known as one of the premier barbecue competitions in the world.
“The Smoke on the Water Nevada State Championship in May brings the world’s best barbecue teams to Laughlin,” said Ron Cates, event organizer. “Even though there is also $20,000 up for grabs, it’s really about more than that. It’s about respect among their peers. Those who compete in this contest know the winner will be recognized as one of the best barbecue teams on the planet plus moves on to the USA BBQ Championship in November. And Americans love great barbecue. So you know when you invite the best barbecue cooks in the country to compete for record prize money, you're going to have some great food to sample.”
With one of the west’s largest cash prize at stake, visitors to the Smoke on the Water BBQ & Music Festival are guaranteed delighted taste buds and full stomachs, plus there is so much more. There will be an Outdoor Recreation Expo including Paul Evert’s RV Country featuring a state-of-the-art luxury RV; River Rat Motorsports featuring the latest in water crafts, off-road vehicles, and dirt as well as street motorcycles; Holiday RV & Marine featuring a Sun Tracker party barge and nitro-performance boats; and Findlay Motor Company featuring desirable trucks including a 2014 Silverado twin cab pickup which will be awarded to the Grand Champion during the $100,000 Smoke on the Water USA BBQ Championship held at the Riverside Resort this November 1-2, 2013.
Along with the exciting barbeque competition and outdoor recreation enthusiasm, there is a solid line-up of live musical entertainment on the Budweiser Stage featuring great local country and rock bands all weekend. And don’t forget about the Sam’s Club 30-minute Grilling Demonstrations on how to prepare the best grilled pork, brisket and chicken followed by their famous free samples. There will be three grilling demonstrations with free samples each day.
